Flashback Friday

I have a memory box (tub) for each of my kids and I love digging through and stroll down memory lane. The other day while I was strolling I ran across this little note written by my sweet Britney girl.
p******
This is my precious Britney M'Lae, 20 years ago, she was in Kindergarten and now she is teaching Kindergarten. Wouldn't her students love seeing pictures of her when she was their age.

********

Remember....it was the 80's and BIG hair was in....so if BIG hair was in, then this mama had to step it up a notch and go really BIG.

Here is the story about Britney's little note below.
***********

One day my sweet precious Britney was not minding her mama and was sent to her room for a little time to think about her behavior. Well, that "little time" became a long time, I got busy and forgot she was in her room. I walked down the hall and notice a piece of paper on the floor. I pick it up and below is the note she slid under her door.

I hope I will get to get out very very soon

Poor baby girl, I guess she thought she might not ever get out of her room....I remember getting so tickled at this little note.
*******
Britney does not have her mama's southern accent at all but apparently she did when she was a little girl because can't you just hear a Texas twang in this note...lol...my girl, that is for sure. It seems like yesterday she was in Kindergarten...if only we could slow down time. (tear tear)

I will order it and have it sent to you. And how these little clips are packaged is absolutely precious!

Here's how it works:

Piggytails, Piggytails...Oh How I LOVE....

PIGGYTAILS...and so does Vivi Jo! She looks at herself in the mirror and says, "SOOO CUTE!" Yes, we do have a good self-esteem! These sassy little tails fit her personality to a T. She is feisty, a spunky little fireball, full of vim and vigor. and she loves and lives life to the fullest. She is a teeny tiny little thing...they say dynamite comes in small packages well she is for sure DYN-A-MITE and she is WONDERFUL! She is the perfect balance and fit for our family. I stand AMAZED!

I found some big time goodies at a local thrift store the other day. I got a bag of clothes for the kids for under $4. This vintage hand knitted sweater was one of the treasures I found, and it was only a buck. The dress I got at Goodwill a while back but it was only $2.50. I love love love Goodwill and thrift stores.

A Very Special Thank You!

This is my friend Jen and her husband Jay, aren't they an adorable couple. Jen is my blog designer and she keeps blessing me with amazing blogs, she does these for me because she is precious and she has a big giving heart. She has a blog design business, check it out here to see some of her other designs. There is nothing she can't do and I guarantee you will be pleased as punch. Every time she gives me a new look I think, it can't get better than this and then she blows me away with something new and so much fun. If you have never gone to her blog then you must stop by for a visit....she is hilarious! I have mentioned before that her son Ben and Max were in the orphanage together and were big buds, Jen and I got to know each other though emailing back and forth while we waited to bring them home....back then I had no idea how much I would come to treasure her friendship.
***
Jen, I love you and I can't thank you enough!
**
I decided since Jen blessed me with my new cute blog design now I want bless someone with a GIVEAWAY...now I just have to decide what item or items to give away. I will think about it and decide over the weekend, I'll have the GIVEAWAY in a post next week.

Happy Chinese New Year

On Monday, January 26, 2009 marked the beginning of Chinese New Year so Monday we celebrated all day. The night before Vivi Jo and Max chose the traditional Chinese outfit they wanted to wear to celebrate. They wore their outfits all day Monday, we baked a cake and some of our family and a few close friends went out to eat with us and then came over the house for cake. We gave all the kids a Red Envelope and they played and we ate cake. It's always a good day when it ends with cake :-). That night the Vivi Jo and Max got another Red Envelope from Mama and Daddy to go under their pillow, and the next morning they got to open them. We were told by an exchange student from China that in his family they would sleep with their Red Envelope under their pillow to press in the good luck...pressing in the good luck is not why they slept with it under their pillows but we wanted to celebrate the Chinese way as much as possible. They woke up and were excited to get to open it. We love CNY and had a wonderful day/days celebrating!

Saving our Red Envelope $$$

Last year we opened a savings account for Max with his Red Envelope money so this year we did the same for Vivi Jo. She was so excited and LOVED signing her name on all the papers....that's just up her alley. Max loves when he gets money for birthdays, Christmas etc. to take it the bank and put it in his savings. I hope Vivi Jo likes saving hers, when she first had to hand it over she wasn't so sure if she wanted to give it up or not but when I told her that Daddy was going to watch it and take care of it then she was fine.
